Trustworthy AI for Better Health

Rachel Alexander, CEO Omina Technologies, has received the Inspiring50 Belgium 2022 Award on October 6th, recognizing her as an incredible C-level woman excelling in STEM. Before founding Omina Technologies in 2016 Rachel worked as Global IT Director at Studio100 and in the management of CSC.

Rachel Alexander became fascinated by the world of artificial intelligence and machine learning during her physics studies at Indiana University. Rachel founded Omina Technologies in 2016 and created a platform, Justifai, that enables business domain experts to co-create scalable, trustworthy and regulatory compliant AI innovations.

Trustworthy AI for Better Health

Rachel and Omina have been helping digital health providers using Justifai.  Two female founders launched a digital health app to guide midlife women to cope with menopause by recommending the right content, nutrition, exercises and products. They were looking for a solution that would help them personalize and improve the experience of women going through menopause and at the same time preserve their privacy. They had various challenges. They needed to use the midlife women’s personal data to deliver them a personalized midlife experience, but wanted to do this in a way that respected each woman’s different willingness to share personal data. Secondly, they wanted to make sure they were compliant because they were using sensitive personal data and they wanted to make sure they stayed compliant as they rolled out their application internationally. Lastly, they wanted a regulatory compliant system that would build trust between the different parties. The solution personalized the women’s experience by gradually collecting the most valuable personal information that women were willing to share over time as their trust increased.

Rachel is on a mission to empower these midlife personalized experience digital health founders and many others to realize their envisioned health impact by using Justifai to create privacy-preserving and compliant by design AI solutions supporting personalized health experiences. Just like she started Omina Technologies with the idea of using AI for good, she now contributes to other entrepreneurs who also want to leverage technology to have a sustainable health impact.
